The Compliance Specialist will also help create and implement standard operating procedures that ensure adherence to our regulatory responsibilities.
This role will be the key partner in supporting the compliance requirements of Samuel’s government and defense contracting business.
This role is part of the Samuel Legal & Compliance team and reports directly to the Chief Compliance Officer.
*Responsibilities:* Support the Chief Compliance Officer on matters pertaining to: * Support and respond to compliance inquiries from the business units, including customer questionnaires and Prime/government/regulatory requests for information/proposal.
* Experience with U.
S.
Export Control process including, EAR product classification, licensing requirements, export end use and end user designation, and ability to assist with drafting export compliance training materials for division employees.
* Responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining a contracts database for Samuel’s businesses in the US and Canada.
* Under the supervision of the CCO, reviewing, negotiating and revision of government procurement contracts (FARs, DFARs, EARs) and non-disclosure agreements.
* Responsible for collecting, organizing, and preparing, on a timely basis, regulatory filings relating to Samuel’s government and defense contracts, census questionnaires and other regulatory filings.
* Support sales teams in the completion and filing of compliance certifications and similar attestation documents.
* Ability to quickly learn the supply chain vetting and customer screening process using company licensed software platform.
* Other related duties and responsibilities as required or assigned *Education :* * 4 year Bachelor’s Degree *Qualification :* * Minimum of 8 years’ experience in compliance roles, preferably manufacturing (e.
g.
Contracts Manager, Paralegal, Compliance Coordinator).
* Experience in the review, negotiation and revision of contracts.
* Solid understanding of general government procurement, defense procurement (FAR, EAR, DFAR) and related regulatory filings.
* In-house experience with a government subcontractor or similar organization is preferred.
* Experience with creating and implementing policies and procedures.
*Skills & Attributes For Success :* * Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational, research and analytical skills.
* Ability to interact with co-workers, clients, and third-party vendors with tact and diplomacy adopting a customer first approach.
* Proactive, use own initiative, and can work independently, as well as part of the team.
